Remarks
by Garry Palermo during a fictitious interview
So how are you? Had a few internal parts removed over the years, but Im fine. Do you miss Gorman? I miss Father Teeds humor and the Precisionaires legs. Married? No, I am not married. The women Im interested in all want to marry Bill Terry or guys with that income potential. Any kids? None that I know about. What did you do after high school? Went to UNLV part-time to avoid the draft. Joined the Navy Air Reserve to avoid the draft. It was windy out there. What were your goals? I wanted to be an actor and or a pilot. What happened? I learned that I did not have the math skills to pilot a plane and that I did not want to drop napalm on civilians who were no threat to the United States. And acting? I took that somewhat seriously. I went to Burbank. I crashed a few studios, as Spielberg did. Watched them make the original "Star Trek" at Paramount. Returned to UNLV. Was an intern on the Robert Urich TV show Vega$. Met Tony Curtis, Janet Leigh, Debbie Reynolds, Natalie Wood, Josh Logan, Jim Garner, Richard Boone and a few other names. Was thrown out of the Tumbleweed Tech drama department for unruly behavior. Eventually got a B.A. in Mass Communication from what is now the Greenspun School at UNLV. Marshall McLuhan is still a hero of mine. So what is your biggest accomplishment? Meeting Frank Sinatra. Anything else you would like us to know? I spent some time with Brother Drolet during his last days. He was in the same nursing home as my god-father. It was a privilege to say the rosary with Brother Joe. I recall his remarks to us squirrels in the Gorman chapel during mandatory choir practice: It is not a sin to sing poorly, but it is a sin not to try! |
